Centralian Python
The Centralian Python, also called Bredl’s Python in honour of Australian crocodile conservationist Josef Bredl, prefers vert arid desert areas and is most commonly found in the mountains of southern Northern Territory.
These non-venomous snakes have colour patterns that consists of a brown to reddish ground colour with a highly variable pattern of pale intrusions. There are normally black borders around the intrusions – perfect camouflage for living in the “red centre” of Australia.
They are a heavily built species with adults approaching or exceeding 2m in length, and can live for 20 years or more.
Centralian Python’s are carnivorous and feed on desert mammals, birds, reptiles and occasionally small rock wallabies.
