Where the Wild Things are
This is the Australian bush, so there are risks. Children must NEVER be unsupervised.

Standard Program
Ranger-led activities (timings are approximate)
- ½ hour safety briefing
- ½ hour campsite orientation
- ½ hour kangaroo and emu roundup
- ½ hour boomerang throwing
- 1 hour Campfire
**DAY PLAN activities in red with ‘asterisk’ are ranger-led. At all other times, all leadership and supervision is provided by your group’s own leaders.

- 9:00pm – quiet time until 8am

- 9:00am – boomerang throwing**

- 10:00am – departure

Maximum numbers:
- Up to 10 tents are available
- Maximum group size is usually 40 guests – up to 4 per tent
- In some circumstances (e.g. if small children) up to 50 guests – 5 per tent
Inclusions:
- exclusive use of the campsite for your group
- full access to the wildlife sanctuary throughout your stay
- camp kitchen with fenced eating area, fridge, microwave, gas BBQ, sink (cold water)
- safari tents set up and ready for you (3m x 3m x 6ft high)
- camping mattresses
- ablutions block with toilets (1-minute walk from tents)
- adults have use of 4 hot water showers (1-minute walk from tents)
- showers are NOT for children, except in emergency (at your group’s supervising adults’ discretion)
Suggested packing list:
- sleeping bag or duvet (doona), blanket, pillow
- towel
- torch / flashlight and spare batteries or charger
- toiletries and personal medications
- camera and spare batteries or charger
- mobile phone charger
- closed comfortable walking shoes or boots
- sunscreen
- insect repellent
- warm jacket
- wet weather rain jacket (this is an all-weather adventure, and it can rain at any time of the year)
Deposit and Refund Policy
A $100 deposit secures your booking.
The deposit is non-refundable because, once your booking is confirmed, Walkabout will turn away other bookings (and income) for that day.
In the event of bad weather, your deposit is transferrable to another date or as credit for a future booking.
Wet Weather Policy
Make sure the children and adults bring their rain gear.
Except in extreme weather, the program will go ahead in the rain.
If the weather is expected to be too extreme for the rangers to be able to run the program, or if it might be dangerous, Walkabout will contact you to reschedule your excursion or give you a credit for a future excursion.
If Walkabout does not assess the wet weather conditions as too dangerous but you would like to reschedule anyway, we respect this and will work with you to find an alternate date.
Calga weather patterns are quite different to the Sydney Basin and the Central Coast. It can be pouring with rain down the road in Kariong or Hornsby, but dry in Calga. You can contact Walkabout Wildlife Sanctuary up to 5 days before your excursion to make general enquiries about expected weather conditions, with more accurate weather information available 48 hours prior.
